Queensland could be about to get its first legal nudist beach.
Free Beaches Australia is asking the Sunshine Coast Regional Council to consider a clothing-optional beach at Coolum, Mudjimba or Marcus Downs.
It follows last week's dismissal of charges against a 77-year-old Sunshine Coast man who was caught nude sunbathing at Coolum in 2005.
The group's president Anita Grigg says it is about time nudists' rights were recognised.
"We have a right like any other group to have an area where we can legally follow our recreational choice, where we can go and be legal and not be looking over our shoulders worrying if we're going to be arrested next moment," she said.
