Police move pedophile to secret location

CONVICTED pedophile Dennis Ferguson has left his bolthole for an undisclosed location ahead of an appeal hearing tomorrow.

Police announced the move today, saying Ferguson would keep his 24-hour police escort.

Police have been with Ferguson since his move from a property outside Miles in southern Queensland to Carbrook, south of Brisbane, earlier this month.

A police spokesman was unable to say where Ferguson had been taken but said he was not in custody.

The escort would remain in place until the outcome of the appeal.

"The Queensland Police Service believes Ferguson is currently no danger to the public," police said today.

Ferguson, 60, was released from custody after a district court judge dismissed child sexual assault charges against him on July 1.

After being hounded out of the property at Miles, he was relocated to Carbrook.

Police officers remain at the Carbrook home to remove the barriers and other material erected to keep protesters off the road outside the property.

Queensland Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson will hold a media conference later today.
