Five people injured in nightclub knife attack

TWO women have been arrested after a violent brawl which broke out in a Melbourne nightclub early today put two people in hospital.

Two women became involved in a heated argument at The Spot nightclub in Sydney Road, Brunswick, about 3.30am (AEST), police have been told.
At one point a number of other people intervened in an attempt to try to diffuse the situation.
But one of the women produced a knife and lashed out, injuring four men and one woman.
Two of the injured people were taken to the Northern Hospital with knife wounds while others were treated at the scene, a police spokeswoman said.
Two women were arrested and are being interviewed by police.
