To James Packer and Erica, a $7bn baby girl named Indigo

JAMES Packer and his wife, Erica Baxter, have become the proud parents of a girl, Indigo.

The baby, the couple's first child, was born late yesterday afternoon at the Mater Hospital, Crows Nest, on Sydney's north shore, after “a good labour,” sources confirmed.
The media and gambling billionaire and his former model wife were showing their daughter off to family and close friends last night, including Nine Network boss David Gyngell and his newsreader wife, Leila McKinnon.
A spokesman for the hospital refused to comment on the birth, saying the couple had asked for strict privacy and for no details to be released.
Mr Packer, 40, who was reported to be “over the moon”, spent the weekend with his wife at the private hospital after she was admitted on Saturday.
A private security guard has been posted on a special wing on the third floor where the Packer entourage occupied three rooms.
Hospital sources said Ms Baxter, 31, delivered the baby without any complications, just days after its expected due date.
Ms Baxter is under the care of high profile Sydney obstetrician, Keith Hartman, who also delivered the two sons of Lachlan and Sarah Murdoch at the same hospital.
Indigo will be heir to a fortune estimated at $7 billion.
Mr Packer and Ms Baxter were married in a lavish ceremony on the French Riviera in June last year.
Mr Packer was previously married to fashion designer Johdi Meares who he divorced in 2002.
Ms Baxter's last public appearance was on Friday at the funeral of Australian fashion industry leader Mark Keighery at St Mary Magdalene's Catholic Church in Rose Bay, in Sydney's eastern suburbs.
The baby will be the fourth grandchild of Australian media giant Kerry Packer, who died in 2005, and his wife Ros.
James Packer's sister Gretel has three children.
