Qantas cigarette selling a 'backwards step'

An anti-smoking lobby group say it is extremely disappointed Qantas has reintroduced selling cigarettes on international flights.

The airline says it is offering them in its in-flight duty free store because of increased demand.

Quit's Fiona Sharkie says Qantas must reconsider its decision.

"This is clearly a grab for cash at the expense of their patron's health," she said.

"It's really a backwards step as we see it when we consider Qantas is Australia's own international carrier and Australia has been really leading in the tobacco control movement."
