Couple 'locked kids on balcony'

Police have charged two parents with child neglect after removing six children from a home at Bidwill in Sydney's west.

Neighbours called police yesterday morning to report that four children under the age of six were locked out on a balcony.

When officers forced their way into the home they also found a six-week-old baby and an 18-month-old toddler inside, as well as two adults asleep in bed.

Police say they removed the children and arrested the 29-year-old man and 23-year-old woman because of the state of the home.

They have been granted conditional bail and will appear in Mount Druitt Local Court later this month.

Officers from the NSW Department of Community Services (DOCS) are now caring for the children.
