Woman cop kicked in head at rugby league final brawl

A FEMALE police officer has been kicked in the head after attempting to break up a brawl between ten spectators at a rugby league grand final on the NSW north coast.

Police said the officer dropped a portable radio and was kicked in the head as she bent down to pick it up at about 4.15pm yesterday.

Meanwhile a stolen car has rolled during a police pursuit in La Perouse, Sydney early this morning.

The officer kicked in the head collapsed and lost consciousness before being taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital.

She was admitted for observation and later released.

Police have charged a 21-year-old Coffs Harbour man with assaulting a police officer in the execution of duties, occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.

He was conditionally bailed to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court on September 29.

The stolen car drama occured early this morning after police were called to a break and enter at a home in Woli Place, Malarbar at about 2.45am.
Two cars were stolen from the location, a Jeep Cherokee and a Volkswagen Golf.
Police later spotted the stolen vehicles travelling southbound on Anzac Parade at Maroubra and initiated a pursuit.
A short time later, the Volkswagen Golf left the road at Goondah Ave, La Perouse, hit an embankment and rolled once.
At the time of the collision, it's believed the vehicle was travelling at about 80km per hour.
The male driver of the Volkswagen was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital as a precautionary measure.
The stolen Jeep Cherokee was last seen travelling southbound on Anzac Parade, La Perouse.
